Commentary: Minnesota continues to invest in fishing infrastructure
The near-record bonding bill, $1.24 billion, passed by the 2026 Minnesota Legislature included “big wins” for state anglers, according to staffers from MN-Fish, a non-profit fishing advocacy organization, who worked the session.
Leading the “wins” is $3 million in bonding to begin the process of replacing the DNR’s 130-year-old St. Paul Fish Hatchery. The metro’s only fish raising facility is severely dilapidated. The hatchery continues to raise walleyes and muskies for stocking in key metro waters.
