Ohio angler lands rare ‘blue’ perch; here’s the history behind it

Fish can show a wide variety of variation with their pigmentation patterns and arrays of colors. Males of some species such as darters, sunfish, minnows, and emerald bowfins display dazzling breeding colors during the spring.
Others are more temporary – such as when fish are subjected to stress or when they try to blend into their surroundings after they move into different habitat types. Yellow perch are an example of a species capable of the latter.
