On Aug. 14, members of the University of Toledo Lake Erie Center’s grass carp strike team netted a young-of-the-year sauger while electrofishing in the Maumee River.
The team was there to look for the presence of grass carp, which actively make upstream spawning runs during high stream flow events, and recognized the fish after it was dipped off the water’s surface near Orleans Park even with Audubon Island.
