An angry, bewildered reaction from across the state swiftly followed the revelation in early August that the Pennsylvania Game Commission and the Fish & Boat Commission jointly were ending their 100-plus-year-old deputy law enforcement officers programs.
By midmonth, the agencies had abruptly dismissed more than 120 deputy game wardens and 36 deputy waterways conservation officers.
