Earn-a-second-buck procedures explained as New York DEC shares comments on new deer regs

Between March 18 and May 17, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation received 1,150 public comments on, what were at the time, proposed regulations designed to increase hunter harvest of antlerless deer.
The proposals became regulation in June and are in place for the forthcoming white-tailed deer hunting seasons. Recently, DEC Game Management Section Head Jeremy Hurst distributed an email to those who submitted comments where he took the opportunity to explain how hunters will be responsible to clarify that they have actually taken an antlerless deer to earn a second buck tag.
