Old-school offerings still catch walleyes on Lake Erie

When mayflies began their population recovery in the mid-1990s, walleye fishermen found that the weight-forward spinner lure bite noticeably slowed when these swarms of insects emerged from the lake in June.
Charter captains began experimenting with new lures and techniques to entice already-full fish to take their baits and successfully fill their clients’ coolers.
