The Lake Erie sauger population has been in the news recently and it certainly is a time of optimism on the big lake.
The ODNR Division of Wildlife in late May stocked the Maumee and Sandusky rivers with a total of nearly 130,000 fingerling saugers as part of a larger plan to invigorate the species in Lake Erie. The obvious question then is will the sauger compete with the lake’s robust walleye population for vital resources?
