Lawmakers from Michigan’s Upper Peninsula are pushing legislation to create a separate Natural Resources Commission for the peninsula after years of complaints about poor representation.
Rep. Dave Preston, R-Cedar River, described the bill package – House Bills 4783-4786 – as “a practical and responsive approach to managing the unique natural resources of the Upper Peninsula” that preserves “the overall framework of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act.”
