Glenn Sapir: Traditions are a foundation of outdoor pursuits

Among the author’s most treasured outdoor traditions is the family fishing trip, an annual weekend away that has gone on for several decades, and has brought family members and friends together in a very special and meaningful way. Every outdoorsperson thirsts for that once-in-a-lifetime hunting or fishing trip. It could be a fly-fishing adventure on a famed Western river, a peacock bass pursuit in the Amazon or, perhaps, an elk hunt in the Rockies.
They are all worthy of a dream, but what has fueled my dreams are not first-time adventures that I long for, but, instead, activities that I’ve done before and I look forward to doing again, year after year.
