West Portsmouth, Ohio — Step away from the noise of everyday life and reconnect with the natural world during Shawnee State Park’s fourth annual Nature Wellness Weekend, set for Friday, May 8, through Sunday, May 10. Registration is now open for the event designed to restore both mind and body.
This immersive retreat invites participants to slow down, breathe deeply, and experience the calming power of nature in one of Ohio’s most scenic state parks. Co-sponsored by the Ohio DNR Division of Parks and Watercraft, Shawnee State Park Lodge and Conference Center, and Friends of Shawnee State Park Inc., the weekend blends gentle outdoor activities with wellness-focused programming.

Participants may choose from a variety of sessions including creek exploration, natural art, nature writing, identifying wild edible plants, and more. Evenings offer time to unwind with live music by Ohio singer and songwriter Megan Bee around the campfire.
Participants may select an all-inclusive lodge package at the Shawnee Lodge and Conference Center, which includes lodging, meals, and activities. Prices range from $490 to $560 per person, based on whether participants share a room. Those who prefer a more rustic experience may register for $75, plus camping fees, and reserve a site at the Ohio River or Turkey Creek Campgrounds through reserveohio.com.
Registration opened on Sunday, Feb. 1, and is available to individuals aged 16 and older. Space is limited to 40 participants, and lodge packages must be reserved by Tuesday, March 10 or until they are filled.
