Hunt with close calls ends with a filled tag for Afton man during Minnesota’s opening elk season

With only four tags up for grabs for about 4,000 state elk hunters who applied, Afton resident George Clements, who was successful in the draw, knew it was a special opportunity to hunt the big-game species in Minnesota.
“I didn’t know about elk hunting in Minnesota until about five years ago, and then I started applying,” Clements said.
