How to kill a buck when the temperatures rise

Hunters often forget that 80 degrees in September isn’t the same as 80 degrees during the rut. Deer are more accustomed to the heat now than they will be in two months. This means that bucks will still move during heat waves. You just might need to adjust your hunting strategy to meet up with them. (Contributed photo)

Most bowhunters cross their fingers and pray to the deer gods that opening week will come with a nice cold front. This generally doesn’t work out too well. While the dreamy days of frosty mornings and pre-rut activity are weeks out, there is still hope for the early-season hunter when the beach weather sticks around.
Warm weather requires a different mindset, and a different strategy. The easiest way to understand this is to try to think like a buck.
