New York hunters are in “decision mode,” or soon will be as hunting seasons for big game and numerous small game species continue to open across the state.
In the Southern Zone, an early rifle hunt for black bears is underway in several southeastern New York Wildlife Management Units. Also in the Southern Zone, an early antlerless deer season is also underway in limited WMUs. Both seasons conclude Sept. 21.
