Vernon range hosts New York State Clay Shooting Championships

Nearly 400 competitors took part in this year’s NYS Clay Shooting Championships, held again at the Vernon National Shooting Preserve, in Oneida County. (Photo Megan Plete Postol)

For the fourth year in a row, the New York State Clay Shooting Championships were held at Vernon National Shooting Preserve, in Vernon, Onieda County.
From July 16-20, shooters from across the country, and even internationally, gathered at the “hill” to compete, catch up, and enjoy the sport of clay target shooting. Each year the multi-day event gets bigger and better than the year before, according to Jason Acee, of Vernon National Shooting Preserve.
