Turkey hunter injured in shooting incident from New York’s Stewart State Forest

The incident marks the first Hunting Related Shooting Incident in New York during the spring turkey season since 2022. (Stock photo)

One turkey hunter was injured and another eventually taken into custody following a May 13 shooting incident that occurred in the Stewart State Forest, in Orange County, N.Y.
A New York State Police report said the victim was severely injured by birdshot to the face, but was able to call 911 around 11 a.m. on the morning of the incident. The wounded hunter was transported by Medivac to Westchester Medical Center.
