Numbers just released by the state’s newest venison donation network puts perspective on the impact of deer hunting in Illinois.
During the 2024-25 season, Hunters Feeding Illinois distributed 25,794 pounds of deer meat to 54 food pantries across east-central and southern Illinois. Organizers say those donations provided an estimated 97,000 meals, reaching nearly 49,800 families.
