Although game-fish seasons are closed across much of the Ice Belt, there are still plenty of opportunities left for ice fishing. Panfish, including crappies, bluegills, and perch, certainly receive the lion’s share of fishing pressure during this period. That being said, there’s a number of other species, including some particularly fun fish, that are far underutilized by ice anglers. Two of my favorites are catfish and whitefish.
