Hunters harvesting bucks may be helping CWD battle

A U.S. Geological Survey indicates that increased harvest of deer – especially male deer – could be an important tool in managing CWD in deer herds across the country. (Stock photo)

A study by USGS and the Wyoming Game and Fish Department, points to hunting as a tool that might reduce the number of infected animals within a population and slow down the spread of the disease. Many states are now working to increase hunting levels in an effort to slow the spread of disease.
