Michigan Readers Stories: Young city boy shoots big, farm country buck on first hunt

To say that things got exciting last fall when my son and I took my 11-year-old grandson, Colten, on his first ever deer hunt is an understatement!
Colten was born and raised in a packed subdivision in Las Vegas, Nevada. He didn’t grow up hunting and fishing like his dad and grandpa did in Michigan’s rural farm country. In fact, he’d never been hunting. He’d never fired a .22, let alone a deer rifle.
