Attending the Bayfield County Deer Advisory Committee meeting in Washburn, Wis., on the night of April 23 made me wonder why we have not yet gone back to using the former “numbered units” that were employed prior to the arrival of Dr. James Kroll from Texas and his Deer Trustee Report.
We’re 10 years into that experiment now and I think it’s safe to say that some parts of his plan are not working. We can keep the CDAC and DMAP (Deer Management Assistance Program), but – at least in northern Wisconsin – we have to get off these county units.
