Illinois hunters and shooting sports enthusiasts are keeping a close eye on the latest legal wrangling over the Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card system, which has been under fire in recent years.
A FOID card is required to purchase firearms and ammunition in the state. In a recent move, the Illinois Supreme Court ruled that people may obtain records about their own FOID card, but they may not use the state’s Freedom of Information Act to do so.
