Poor ice conditions across New York and the entire Northeast have resulted in numerous incidents involving anglers and non-anglers alike, with some ending tragically.
Ice anglers, snowmobilers and people simply recreating on the ice have fallen victim to submersion, and organizers of numerous winter events centered on ice, including ice fishing tournaments, have canceled their events as a result.
