Minnesota’s early bear harvest sees a 40% jump from 2025

A little more than a week into bear season, Minnesota harvest totals were about 40% higher than the previous year during the same time period.
Dan Stark, large carnivore specialist for the DNR, said late last week (the hunt began on Sept. 1), that the total harvest so far is about 2,600. Stark said looking back at the past 10 years, average harvest results hover around 2,500 for the whole season. Last year, the harvest after the first week was about 1,600 bears.
