A routine fisheries survey at a pond near O’Hare International Airport turned into a battle with a 91-pound fish that was more than 4 feet long.
Forest Preserves of Cook County fisheries workers pulled the massive bighead carp from 6-acre Schiller Pond on July 23 while conducting an electrofishing survey designed to remove invasive carp from a waterway northwest of Chicago. The fish weighed 91.4 pounds and measured 4 feet, 3 inches long, according to the Forest Preserves.
