Walking into a public lands panel last Saturday at the Izaak Walton League of America’s national convention in Bloomington, an ominous reality struck this 50-something: I was one of the younger people present.
That’s not a slam at the 300-plus hard-working volunteers who dedicated a summer weekend to promoting and advocating for the wild places where we hunt and fish. It’s simply a commentary on the health of the conservation movement and the demographics still fighting the good fight.
