Michigan anglers casting for bass, walleye or other fish this summer may occasionally notice biologists and technicians launching specialized boats equipped with nets and other equipment.
It’s not a covert operation – it is work that serves as a vital part of DNR’s fisheries management program. In 2025, fisheries crews completed more than 350 fisheries surveys across the state, including 225 surveys on inland lakes and 127 surveys on streams.
