How many pounds of fish are kept by Minnesota anglers? New research sheds light

Here in the Land of 10,000 Lakes and sky-blue waters, Minnesota anglers are catching and keeping more fish – in fact, way more fish – than previously estimated by the Minnesota DNR.
That’s a conclusion of a new national study published in Fisheries, a peer-reviewed journal of the American Fisheries Society. The study, which was released in early May, found that Minnesota anglers are harvesting an estimated 80 million pounds of freshwater fish annually – a number that more than doubles the state’s 30-million-pound estimate from 2001.
