Commentary: TB research involving baiting not applicable to Michigan deer herd

Research that has been done about the transmission of TB to deer via baiting at the National Animal Disease Lab in Ames, Iowa is not applicable to what happens in the wild in Michigan, but it is being used to ban baiting anyway.
At the same time, information about how the use of bait by deer hunters can increase hunter success and harvest, thereby helping reduce the number of diseased deer on the landscape, is being ignored.
