Eileen shares, “I love a homemade marinade, and this Dijon mustard version makes a vibrant statement with venison. Feel free to use a less-than-tender cut since there’s a double dose of acid in this recipe. Both the malt vinegar and Dijon mustard contain vinegar that acts to tenderize the meat.”

Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection redesignates 98 streams high quality

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection recently announced final approval of a statewide effort to redesignate more than 530 miles of streams across 34 counties as High Quality Waters – expanding protections for 98 streams that support thriving ecosystems, wild trout populations, outdoor recreation and clean drinking water sources.

Bevy of outdoors-related bills advancing in congressional committees in Pennsylvania

The Pennsylvania House and Senate Game and Fisheries committees met separately May 6 and took action on a wide range of legislation.
The lawmakers voted to send four bills on to the full House or Senate. To become law, each bill must be approved in votes by the full House and Senate and signed by the governor.

Pennsylvania bats show some resilience to devastating white nose disease

There’s a light at the end of the long, dark bat cave.
For the first time in a decade Greg Turner can look, maybe squint a little, and see some hope for the 1-ounce flying mammals that once dominated the landscape.
“It’s not all doom and gloom for all species,” said Turner, the Pennsylvania Game Commission’s state mammologist in the Wildlife Recovery Division and the resident “bat guy.”
