Ohio Insider: Following up on a family’s special muskie story from 2025

I wanted to add a few words about one of my favorite stories that I worked on in 2025.
The story involved John and Dan Welch, a father-and-son fishing team who were on a quest to get John a 50-inch muskie for the first time in his life. The story recently earned a writing honor from the Outdoor Writers of Ohio.

Overshadowed by its better known neighbor to the south, Warriors Path State Park is a 349-acre day-use area located on a peninsula in the Raystown Branch of the Juniata River.
