Dan Ladd: Earning a second buck will force New York hunters to decide

There’s a situation I keep thinking about since the New York DEC rolled out the latest proposed regulations designed to encourage hunters to take more antlerless deer.
It involved a botched chance at a good buck on the last day of the early Northern Zone muzzleloading season two years ago.

Dean Bortz: Wisconsin NRB asking for support on DNR fee increase, dedicated funding source on April 13

Conservation Congress delegates have been looking at a dedicated funding source for the Wisconsin DNR’s fish and wildlife programs and the game warden force since at least the early 1990s.

Each spring, about that time, they each wrote an inspiring piece about the Conservation Congress. The articles warned that if larger groups didn’t show up for the hearings, very soon there would be no hearings: “If you want to be heard, you must show up to vote.”
