When April 1 arrives and New York’s trout season opens, anglers will be aching to get to their favorite trout fishing destinations. And sometimes, getting there is part of the fun.
But that can also be an obstacle, especially during the spring. For those hoping to access the 5-mile dirt road to Woodhull Lake, just south of Old Forge in Herkimer County, they may have to wait out the mud season.
