Sick deer tests positive for CWD in Minnesota Deer Permit Area 604

In December, someone reported a sick deer in Minnesota’s Deer Permit Area 604, around Brainerd and Crosslake in Crow Wing County. The animal eventually tested positive for chronic wasting disease.
DPA 604 almost made it three consecutive years with zero CWD positive cases reported, which could have qualified for the area to be removed as a CWD management zone.

Michigan partnerships help turn donated hides into deerskin gloves for those in need

The DNR’s Hunters Feeding Michigan program recently yielded another deer-related benefit: In early February, five dozen pairs of insulated deerskin gloves were delivered to the Shelter of Flint, a provider of emergency shelter and transitional housing.
