After receiving $24 million in 2023, the Waterville hatchery project is nearing the end of its planning phase, with about 90% of it completed. If scheduling remains on track, the Minnesota DNR and its construction team could break ground sometime this year for the new facility.
“We’re at that 90% design phase now. So, making sure that all of our hopes, wishes, and dreams, if you will, are all included in this design, and then making sure our needs are met,” said Mandy Erickson, the DNR’s fisheries operations consultant.
