Around this time last year, the DNR announced that deer permit areas 646, 647, and 648 in southeastern Minnesota had entered a new phase of infection – “endemic,” according to its chronic wasting disease response plan.
That meant the disease was prevalent in about 5% or more of the deer herd in those DPAs.
