Commentary: Another farm bill extension and what it means for conservation

The year 2025 was busy in Washington, D.C.
From a transition to a new presidential administration last January to a wide-ranging reconciliation package to the longest government shutdown in U.S. history, there has been a lot of news coming out of our nation’s capital. But for the third year in a row, one notable and very important piece of legislation was missing: a full, five-year farm bill.
