Vermont moose hunters take 68 animals during 2025 seasons

Moose hunters in Vermont harvested 68 moose this fall, part of an ongoing effort to control the moose populations and winter tick predation in the northeastern part of the state. (Photo by Vermont DNR)

Vermont’s fall moose hunting season resulted in 68 harvested moose between the Oct. 1-7 archery season and the Oct. 18-23 regular season.
The Vermont Fish and Wildlife Department issued 180 moose hunting permits this year, with hunting only allowed in Wildlife Management Unit E, in northeastern Vermont.
