Thanks to the effort of a local sportsmen’s club, hunters in three northeastern Wisconsin counties have a place to dispose of deer carcasses aimed at keeping chronic wasting disease (CWD) in check.
Since 2019, the Oconto County Sportsmen’s Alliance has provided deer carcass dumpsters. This year, seven dumpsters are located in Oconto County, two in Marinette County and one in Shawano County. Alliance President Gary Lemmen said there are two main reasons behind the effort.
