While waiting for temperatures to drop at the end of September and into early October, Minnesota DNR fisheries crews were also waiting to begin stocking walleyes – which kicked off a few weeks later than usual.
TJ DeBates, the east metro area DNR fisheries supervisor, said stocking was delayed due to warm weather, but that has become a new normal in recent years, he added. “We’ve had years like this where things get condensed and you’ve just got to get that much more work done in a shorter time frame.”
