Legendary Pennsylvania fly-angler, Joe Humphreys, casts over a long career

At the ripe old age of 96, Joe Humphreys has long ago embraced a personal philosophy that has enabled him to derive the most enjoyment and fulfillment from his life.
“One thing that I’ve always done every day of my life is to have something exciting to look forward to,’’ Humphreys said. For Humphreys, a nationally renowned fly-fisherman who lives in the Centre County town of Boalsburg, that means appreciating and being grateful for things like a beautiful day on a mountain stream, and his passion for fly-fishing that has earned him recognition and acclaim from his followers and fans across the country.

Lack of doe harvest a trend nationwide

The lack of antlerless deer harvest to help balance out the herd is not only a problem in Ohio but it is in most of the United States.
That was the general takeaway from a recent National Deer Association (NDA) podcast in the organization’s “Deer Season 365” series.
“As you shoot more does and the (deer) herd gets healthier, you’ll also see corresponding antler growth for the bucks,” said Kip Adams, the NDA’s chief conservation officer.

Pennsylvania man charged in drowning death after driving UTV on lake in February ice accident

A Westmoreland County, Pa., man has been charged in the death of another Westmoreland County man after they fell through the ice while riding in a side-by-side utility vehicle on Deep Creek Lake in Maryland this past winter.
Ricky Wise, 59, of Mount Pleasant, was driving the UTV with passenger David Linsenbigler, 58, of Greensburg, Feb. 22 when the vehicle broke through ice near Glendale Bridge, according to Maryland Department of Natural Resources police spokesman Hunter Dortenzo. Side-by-sides are banned on 3,900-acre Deep Creek Lake.
