Streams of Thought: Minnesota duck opener lived down to expectations; but a good pheasant opener awaits?

Sadly, expectations were notably low in our particular corner of southwestern Minnesota for the 2025 duck-hunting opener this past Saturday. So low, in fact, that a couple of members of our longtime duckin’ crew opted to address other responsibilities rather than spend two mornings slough-side.
I personally know a black Labrador retriever who’s likely disappointed she didn’t get to do – not once – the one thing that’s right there in the name of her breed.
