Back in the spring, when rains were washing out fishing trips and turkey hunts, I mentioned in this space that I wasn’t too complacent in terms of potential future drought conditions.
The indicator at that time was just how dry I noticed the soil to be while tilling my gardens, despite the amount of rain that had been falling throughout the region. Not to say, “I told you so,” but the spring reprieve from dry weather didn’t last long.
