Bobcats once again thriving in Ohio

According to the Ohio DNR, there were 777 sightings in 2024 with bobcats prowling 86 of the state’s 88 counties. (USFWS photo)

Bobcats are definitely on the comeback in Ohio. And it’s a good thing.
That’s the message biologist Shauna Weyrauch, Ph.D, delivered to about 60 attendees during an Aug. 9 seminar at the Ohio Wildlife Center. Weyrauch teaches biology at Ohio State University’s Newark campus. She has been studying the feline’s return to Ohio for about 10 years.
