Pennsylvania’s hunting license sales lag in early stages

As of July 17, 426,297 general hunting licenses were sold – more than 60,000 less than the same time last year, which amounted to a 12% decrease. (Stock photo)

Pennsylvania hunters weren’t in a hurry to buy their antlerless licenses during the first round this year, and they apparently weren’t in a rush to get their hunting licenses as well.
With a record 1.3 million antlerless licenses allocated this year, the Pennsylvania Game Commission guaranteed resident hunters a doe tag in the wildlife management unit of their choice for the first round. By the time the first round ended on July 14, not one unit had sold out and most had plenty of tags remaining.
