The very first article I had published in New York Outdoor News was during the summer of 2005, the paper’s first year. It was a news story about the dam breach of Hadlock Pond, a small but popular private lake just a half-mile as the crow flies from my home in Fort Ann in Washington County.
Today, exactly 20 years later, the memories of that night, the events leading up to it, and the aftermath remain clear in my mind.
