Minnesota DNR’s latest draft of state Wildlife Management Area plan sees movement, again

State wildlife management areas, like Choice WMA, will be more closely analyzed as the DNR tackles a system-wide plan. Two years after DNR Roundtable discussions and some movement on drafting a statewide wildlife and aquatic management area plan, the agency remains somewhat where it was in the fall of 2023.
“Right now, we’re working with leadership to get together with our partners. We’re going to be engaging, again, internally, asking our staff what they want to see of this WMA/AMA system plan,” said Dave Trauba, the Minnesota DNR’s wildlife section manager.
After gathering that input, Trauba said they’ll ask the same of external partners.
