Fans of the coho salmon, original 1960s poster child of a new Great Lakes sport fishery, are hoping for a repeat of last year’s banner fishing year.
Count me among those hopeful fans. I love cohos. See me in the photo taken on a Lake Michigan pier last month, smiling and showing off a couple-pound coho that’s astonishingly silver? It’s no wonder that while Chinook salmon are called “kings,” Northwest salmon anglers have called coho “silver” salmon.
