The Pennsylvania Game Commission recently conducted its largest prescribed burn to date, totaling 2,271 acres in Cambria County.
The burn took place on State Game Land 108 and was completed in less than a day. According to Bryan Whitmore, fire program manager for the Game Commission, the purpose of the burn was to kill mountain laurel and create canopy gaps in the closed chestnut oak overstory.
