Available gun licenses reduced for North Dakota deer hunters during 2025 season

Before applying for a 2025 North Dakota deer license, with an application deadline of June 4, hunters should review the 2024 numbers.
First, hunters are reminded these are numbers, statistics. What you can’t read in deer “success” are hunters who chose not to squeeze the trigger waiting for a bigger buck or doe. Or archery hunters who on the last day decided to pass on a doe in hopes it may help replenish the herd.

National Guard helicopter crew landed on ranch, trespassed to take elk antlers, citations say

Three Montana Army National Guard members face trespassing charges after authorities said they landed a Black Hawk helicopter in a mountain pasture on a private ranch to take several elk antlers before flying away.
A witness saw the May 4 landing, and the person who owns the property reported it to officials, who tracked down the three guard members, Sweet Grass County Sheriff Alan Ronneberg said May 15.

Pheasants Forever, partners add 1,300 acres to Carp Swamp WMA in Minnesota

Officials, supporters, and area residents gathered earlier this month to dedicate the Paschke Family Tract addition to the Carp Swamp Wildlife Management Area in far northern Minnesota. The 1,300-acre property was purchased by Pheasants Forever through the Build a Wildlife Area program and was recently conveyed to the Minnesota DNR.

Minnesota Mixed Bag: CREP applications accepted through June 6

Landowners in 66 Minnesota counties may apply through June 6 for the Minnesota Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program, a conservation easement program administered by the Minnesota Board of Water and Soil Resources.
MN CREP is a voluntary conservation program that permanently protects environmentally-sensitive land in targeted Minnesota counties by leveraging state and federal funds.
