Mike Schwieters, owner of Boyd Lodge in Crosslake, said this past weekend he hadn’t seen such perfect weather for a Minnesota fishing opener since the 1980s, and that he was excited for people to get out on the water for the 77th Governor’s Fishing Opener, this year held in that city, and attended by Gov. Tim Walz and other state officials.
“The purpose of this is really to highlight the outdoor activities,” Walz told Outdoor News regarding the fishing opener tradition.
